Eastern Beauty

Have you ever had the problem when you wanted to use a special piece of paper in your design but no other paper or card stock seemed to work with it?  I recently had this dilemma when I wanted to use the Soft Sky striped pattern from the Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper.  So what did I do to solve my problem, I stamped my own background patterned paper using an image from the Eastern Beauty stamp set and Soft Sky ink.

To make this card you need to the following pieces:

Measurements

A4 Soft Sky cardstock cut in half to create card base
Whisper White cardstock 14.3cm x 10cm (for the inside)
Whisper White cardstock 14.4cm x 10.1cm
Copper Foil Sheet 14.1cm x 9.8cm
Whisper White cardstock 13.8cm x 9.5cm (for stamping)
Foil Frenzy DSP 10.1cm x 5cm
Scraps of Whisper White and Soft Sky for the sentiment circle

Technique

Fold card base.

Stamp the 13.8cm x 9.5cm piece of cardstock using Soft Sky ink and the image from the Eastern Beauty Stamp Set.

Cut out the Medallion from the middle of the Copper Foil Sheet.  The remainder of the Copper Foil Sheet is the mat behind the stamped Whisper White cardstock piece.

Adhere all the layers together and then add the Soft Sky ribbon before adhering to the card front.

Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the Circle Stitched Shape framelit.  Cut out a scalloped circle using the Layering Circle Framelits.  Layer together and then adhere to the Copper Foil Medallion using dimensionals.  Adhere the Copper Foil Medallion to the card front using dimensionals

For the inside of the card stamp the bottom right corner with the image used on the card front and the Soft Sky ink.

Daisy Delight Treat Box

I love it when you have a matching punch and stamp set that go perfectly with the designer series paper.  I have used products from the Delightful Daisy Suite on page 127 of the Annual Catalogue for this gorgeous little Daisy Delight Treat Box.  I did sneak the sentiment in from the Wood Words stamp set.

I adapted the treat box tutorial on Splitcoaststampers to make the box from a piece of A4 cardstock and so that it was more compact. This size suites the 7.6 x 15.2cm Gusseted Cellophane Bags filled with treats and tied with a piece of Daffodil Delight Stitched Ribbon.

To make this treat box you will need the following:

A piece of Night of Navy card stock 8 1/2" x 8"
A piece of Daisy Patterned Paper 2" x 7 1/2"
A piece of Striped Patterned Paper 3 1/4" x 3 3/4"

Score the Night of Navy card stock on the 8" side at 1/4", 2 1/4",
5 3/4" and 7 3/4".  Score on the 8 12" side at 2 1/2" and 4 1/2".

Follow the template below for the cutting lines etc.  There is a tutorial at Splitcoaststampers here that shows how to put the box together and where to adhere the patterned paper.

Stamp the Daisy image twice using Daffodil Delight ink, punch out using the Daisy punch and layer together to form the flower.  Add a Gold Faceted Gem for the flower centre.

Stamp the sentiment using Night of Navy ink and cut out using the small oval in the Stitched Shapes Framelits and layer onto a Daffodil Delight scalloped oval made using the Layering Ovals Framelits.  Adhere this to the box front using dimensionals.

Hip Hip Hooray!

How cute is this banner waving fox from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.

To create the fox all you need to do is cut him out and the banner from the Birthday Memories Birthday Designer Series Paper using the matching Birthday Friend Framelits.  The 'Hip Hip Hooray!' from the Birthday Delivery stamp set is then stamped using Basic Black Archival ink.  How easy is that?

The Pacific Point background was made using the Oh My Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  A little fussy cutting was required for the presents.

The patterned paper is from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper with the Whisper White scalloped edge being created using the scalloped die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  A few Silver Metallic Stars were added to finish the card.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Real Red Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
  • Whisper White mat - 14.1cm x 9.8cm
  • Crumb Cake mat - 13.8cm x 9.5cm
  • Pacific Point background - 13.5cm x 9.2cm
  • Crumb Cake mat - 13.8cm x 4.3cm
  • Striped DSP - 13.8cm x 4cm
  • Crumb Cake mat - 9.5cm x 4.3cm
  • Yellow DSP - 9.5cm x 4cm
  • Crumb Cake mat - 6.3cm x 10.3cm
  • Whisper White background for fox - 6cm x 10cm
  • Whisper White 9.5cm x 2.5cm (for scalloped edge)

Amazing You

I cased myself for project No. 8 for the JDRF fundraiser.  I have used the Grown with Love stamp set and the matching Garden Grown Framelits.

This stamp set is one where you colour the image with Stampin' Write Markers before stamping.  This gives you the pretty finished flower image.  I have used a colour scheme of Fresh Fig, Berry Burst, Old Olive, Alway Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Basic Black and Whisper White.  Once the floral image has been stamped, stamp the images again to cut out the raised flowers using the matching Garden Grown Framelits (the small flower is hand cut).  Stamp the flower pot in Crumb Cake and cut out using the matching die.  All the pieces cut out using the dies are layered onto the card using dimensionals.

The patterned paper is from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Fresh Fig Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
  • Crumb Cake mat - 13.8cm x 9.5cm
  • DSP - 13.5cm x 9.2cm
  • Crumb Cake - 13.8cm x 3cm
  • Fresh Fig - 13.8cm x 2.8cm
  • Fresh Fig - 10.8cm x 7cm
  • Crumb Cake - 10.3cm x 6.5cm
  • Whisper White - 10cm x 6.2cm

Vintage Gift Bag

For project No. 7 I cased the Annual Catalogue on page 143 and made this gorgeous vintage style gift bag.  To create the floral display the Falling Flowers stamp set and matching May Flowers Framelits was used.

To make the base bag use a piece of thick Very Vanilla cardstock cut to the 11" length.  I left the width of the bag at the width of the A4 cardstock.  This was punched and scored using the Gift Bag Punch Board and the instructions for the medium bag size.  Tip - the instructions and sizes are detailed on the Gift Bag Punch Board.

Note - All the edges of the pieces have been inked with Crumb Cake.

Before putting the bag together, the flourish image was stamped using Soft Suede ink and the small leaf stamped with Early Espresso.  The background was then sponged using Crumb Cake ink and the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  You can also spritz this with a mix of Isocol Alchol and Crumb Cake reinker.

Stamp and colour the floral images and cut out the pieces using the May Flowers Framelits.  Also cut out a Very Vanilla large open flower piece as the base for the floral arrangement.  A 20cm piece of Copper Trim was teased apart and adhered on top of the large open flower before the final floral arrangement was adhered in place.

The closure for the bag is created using the word 'Celebrate' from the Tabs for Everything stamp set punched out using the Classic Label Punch.  This was adhered onto a corrugated oval from the Corrugated Elements and then adhered to the Gold Binder Clip with a couple of Glue Dot.  A Linen Thread bow was added to finish the closure.

Beautiful Bouquet

Project No. 6 from the JDRF fundraiser day is a pretty card using the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and the matching Bouquet Bunch Framelits.

The colours used on this card are Fresh Fig, Powder Pink, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.

A strip of Powder Pink DSP from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack was adhered to the Whisper White card base and then a piece of Whisper White cardstock adhered over this using dimensionals.  To create this Whisper White piece I just drew a waved edged freehand and the cut it out.  This was then put through the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The large flowers were stamped in full strength and then stamped again 2nd generation to give the lighter colour of Fresh Fig.  The small flowers were stamped with Powder Pink with Basic Black flower centres.  Pear Pizzazz cardstock was used to make the leaves and the stems in the floral arrangement.  The small filler foliage was created using Whisper White.  Adhere the arrangement together on the card front and add the wrapper which was stamped in Crumb Cake ink.   All these pieces were cut out using the matching Bouquet Bunch Framelits.

The sentiment was made using the Label Me Pretty stamp set and the matching Pretty Label Punch.  The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  To create the Powder Pink mat behind the sentiment, punch out a Powder Pink cardstock piece using the Pretty Label punch.  Cut this in half and the adhere behind the Whisper White label, with a small edge showing top an bottom.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Thick Whisper White Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
  • Powder Pink DSP - 4cm x 14.3cm
  • Whisper White - 14.8cm x 10.5cm (this is cut down with the wave edge)

Artist at Work

For Project No. for the JDFR fundraiser I used one of my forgotten stamp sets Painter's Palette.

The colour scheme is Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide and Basic Black.  The 3 paint images were stamped randomly across the piece of Whisper White cardstock.  A bit of fussy cutting is required to cut out the easel after is has been stamped on Whisper White using Basic Black Archival.   The middle panel of the easel was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the 1.15/16" square die from the Layering Squares Framelits.  This was then adhered to the easel with dimensionals. The easel was adhere to the card front using dimensionals after a piece Whisper White Bakers Twine was adhered to the card front.  A few Rhinestones were added to finish.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Lemon Lime Twist Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
  • Basic Black mat - 13.8cm x 9.5cm
  • Whisper White - 13.2cm x 9cm

Colourful Happy Birthday

The Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper is my favourite paper stack in this year's Annual Catalogue.  It is so bright and colourful and has all the cute little images that you can fussy cut or cut out using the matching Birthday Friends Framelits.

This is Project No. 4 from the JDRF fundraiser day.

The trumpet playing Racoon (I think he is a Racoon) was fussy cut as there is no matching die, but it is quite easy to do by leaving a little white edge when you cut around the image.  He as adhered to the layered circles using dimensionals.  The layered circles were made using the Layering Circle Framelits and the Stitched Shapes Framelits and Real Red and Whisper White cardstock.

The word 'Happy Birthday' from the Birthday Delivery stamp set is stamped in Black Archival Ink direct onto the yellow patterned DSP.

Snip a flag end on each end of the dot patterned DSP.

Scallop the edge of the striped patterned DSP using the scallop edge die in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Crumb Cake Card base - A4 cut in half lengthwise then folded in half
  • Whisper White mat - 12cm x 9cm
  • Yellow patterned DSP - 11.7cm x 8.7cm
  • Striped pattered DSP - 4cm x 10.5cm
  • Dot pattered DSP - 9.5cm x 2cm

A Daisy Birthday

The Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper was used to make Project No. 3 from the JDRF fundraiser day.

The daisy is made using the Daisy Delight Stamp set with the image stamped in Calypso Coral.  The daisies were then punched out using the coordinating Daisy Punch.  I love it when there is a matching punch or die.  Gold Faceted Gems were added to the flower centres.

The word 'Happy' is stamped using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set and the word 'Birthday' is made using the Happy Birthday Thinlits, I just snipped the word 'Birthday' off from the 'Happy'.

The Gold Glimmer Paper was punched using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Old Olive Card base - A4 cut in half lengthwise then folded in half
  • 2 strips of Old Olive striped DSP - 14.8cm x 2cm
  • 2 strips of Gold Glimmer Paper - 14.8cm x 2cm
  • Daisy patterned DSP - 14.8cm x 7.5cm

Sending Hugs

Project No. 2 from the JDRF fundraiser day.  I just love the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper with all the images just perfect for cutting out and using on cards

The background was made using the Pattern Party Decorative Masks sponged with Crumb Cake ink.  Cut out the word 'Hugs' using the Lovely Words Thinlits and Early Espresso cardstock. Stamp the word 'Sending' from the Sunshine Sayings using Early Espresso ink on a piece of Whisper White and mat onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.  Using Soft Sky cardstock cut out the flowers and also the leaves using Whisper White cardstock and the Flourish Thinlits.  Cut out a Crumb Cake scalloped oval using the largest scalloped oval in the Layering Ovals Framelits and a Whisper White oval using the largest oval in the Stitched Shape Framelits.  Cut out the little girl using the matching framelit from the Birthday Friends Framelits.

A doily was placed behind the layered ovals and the flowers and leaves adhered in place.  The little girl was popped up with dimensionals.   Adhere the 'Sending Hugs' sentiment and add some Metal Rimmed Pearls and Pearl Basic Jewels to finish.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Crumb Cake Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
  • Early Espresso mat - 13.8cm x 9.5cm
  • Whisper White - 13.5cm x 9.2cm (background with mask)

JDRF Fundraiser

I held a fundraiser today for the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation.  It is amazing what a group of 25 ladies can do with a day of stamping, chatting and laughing.  A great day was had by all and the ladies went home with 8 projects that they made during the day.  A big thank you to everyone who supported the day, it is very much appreciated.

Over the next 2 weeks I will be sharing with you the projects that everyone made.

This card was made using the Marquee Messages stamp set, Oh My Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack, Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Ink pad, Marina Mist and Early Espresso Stampin' Write Markers with cardstock Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Marina Mist.

Stamp the main image using Early Espresso ink once on Whisper White, once on Crumb Cake and once on Marina Mist.   Stamp the 'It's Your ' with Early Espresso and colour with the Marina Mist Stampin' Write Marker.  The edge of the stamped image on the Whisper White piece was coloured with the Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker. Stamp the 'Birthday' with Early Espresso ink. Cut out the pieces you want from each piece and layer them together to form the finished piece.   A white gel pen was used to colour the small dots on the Crumb Cake arrow piece.  You could add small Rhinestones or Pearls instead.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Crumb Cake Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
  • Whisper white mat - 13.8cm x 9.5cm
  • Marina Mist - 13.5cm x 9.2cm (embossed)
  • DSP - 2 pieces 7.5cm x 12cm
