Delightful Daisy

Hi everyone, a little sneak peak at the 'Daisy Delight' stamp set, matching 'Daisy' Punch, and the beautiful 'Delightful Daisy' Designer Series Paper.

The sentiment is from the 'Rose Wonder' stamp set which was stamped with Night of Navy ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

The daisies were created by layering two of the flower images together, off setting the petals, and adding a Gold Faceted Gem for the flower centre.

Butterfly Basics

He everyone, a bit of a vintage look to the colour scheme on my card today.  I have used Calypso Coral, Basic Black, Whisper White and Always Artichoke.

The stamp sets used are 'Butterfly Basics' and 'Labeler Alphabet'. The back ground foliage was stamped 1st and 2nd generation with Always Artichoke on a piece of Whisper White.  The flower was stamped with Basic Black on a piece of Shimmery White and coloured with Calypso Coral and Always Artichoke using an Aqua Painter.  I fussy cut the image out before adhering it over the stamped foliage.

The ombre look Calypso Coral ribbon is from the Cupcakes and Carousels Embellishment Kit.

A few Metal Rimmed Pearls were added to finish the card.

Build It

Hi everyone, it has been a day of remembrance here in Australia today with it being Anzac Day 'Lest We Forget'.   I am a very proud Australian and support the values of what our nation stands for.  If you are interested in learning a little more about the history of the Anzac the Australian War Memorial has more information here.

I have been researching my family tree over recent years and have learnt that I have a strong military history in both the First World War and the Second World War.

WW1

Great Grandfather, James Angas Stark - survived the war.
Great Great Uncle Thomas William Edmonds - died of wounds 28 April 1917 and is buried at Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, England.
Great Uncle Percy Sheppard, killed in action 29 April 1917 and is buried at the Bray Military Cemetery, Somme, France.
Great Uncle Horace Sheppard, missing in action 7 April 1918, Armentieres, France, grave unknown.
Great Uncle Almore John King - survived the war.
Great Uncle Herbert Water Rettig - survived the war.

WW2

Great Uncle Phillip James Rettig - survived the war.
Great Uncle Cyril George Rettig - survived the war.
Great Uncle Harold Stanislaus Rettig - survived the war.
Great Uncle Charles Louis Rettig (this was my favourite Great Uncle Jack) - survived the war.

Now for today's post.

I have been making more cards for sale to raise funds for our Cancer Council Relay for Life Team at work.   I have used the stamps sets 'Nailed It' and 'Stylized Birthday' along with the 'Build It' Framelits.

The designer series paper is from the 'Urban Underground" Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack.   This is a great paper to use for masculine cards and I am a bit sad that it is retiring along with the 'Nailed It' and 'Build It' Framelits at the end of May 2017 (or while stocks last).

Beautiful Daisies

Hi everyone, sharing a card that I made for my Upline, Ngaire Anderson.  I just wanted to drop a little note to Ngaire to tell her how much I enjoyed her presentation at OnStage Perth.

I cased the daisy arrangement on my card from a very special friend, Pat Carr.  I was lucky enough to receive one of Pat's swaps at OnStage Perth and loved the daisy arrangement so much I just had to remake it.

Recognise the sketch?  It has become one of my go to sketches at the moment.

The daisy was made using the Succulent Framelits with the leaves from the May Flowers Framelits and the Flourish Thinlits dies. The daisy centres were made using the Handheld 1/4" Circle Punch which has been retired but you could use the Owl Builder Punch instead.

The sentiment is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.

Cards for Cancer Council Relay for Life Team

Hi everyone, I have been stamping up a storm making cards for the Cancer Council Relay for Life Team at my work.  They do such a great job fundraising through the year. I do my little bit by keeping a card supply up at work where people can purchase a card or cards and the proceeds are donated to the Relay for Life Team fundraising effort.

I have been using up my paper stash and have been using a card sketch that is great for using patterned paper.  This is one of the cards.

I have used the Special Reason for my flowers and leaves along with the matching Stylish Stems Framelits dies.  The flower image was stamped with Blushing Bride and the Rich Razzleberry watercolor pencil was added and then coloured with the Aqua Painter.  The leaves were stamped in always Artichoke and a little bit of Basic Black watercolor pencil added.

The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.

I made three varieties of this card "Mother's Day", "Happy Birthday" and "Get Well Wishes".

Artistic Licence

Hi everyone, I just love the artistic licence that card making allows us.  Whoever heard of a brown flower (unless it had given up the ghost)!  I have made a monochromatic card in various shades of brown, hope you like it.

I have used my current go to stamp set Special Reason and the matching Stylish Stems Framelits, along with the Rose Wonder stamp set for the sentiment.

The Special Reason stamp set and the matching framelits are retiring at the end of May 2017 (or while stocks last). The Stylish Stems Framelits are discounted by 40% from $50.00 down to $32.40.  If you purchase the Special Reason Clear Mount stamp set for $35.00 and the Stylish Stems Framelits you will get a terrific bundle for only $67.40 AUD.

Paper Craft Crew Challenge

Hi everyone, I am playing along this week with the Metallic Embellishment theme at the Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  I have gone a bit on the grunge side with my card, adding Copper Metallic Thread, Copper Trim, Copper Foil Sheet leaves as my metallic embellishments.

The stamp sets used are Tabs for Everything for the sentiment and Falling Flowers with the matching May Flower Framelits for the floral arrangement.

Addendum to Post

I have had so many enquries on how how I made this card I decided to post how I created it. The measurements are in metric so you may have to convert to imperial.
  • The base card is Crumb Cake (A4 cut in half then folded in half again to make card base) – edges inked with Soft Suede
  • The mat is Early Espresso cardstock 9.5cm x 13.8cm  – the edges are distressed.
  • Background DSP 9cm x 13.3cm is from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack.  It is the Copper and Crumb Cake sheet of paper.  I distressed the edges and then inked them with Soft Suede.
  • The strip across the card is Early Espresso 9.5cm x 2.5cm backed onto a piece of Crumb Cake 9.5cm x 3cm.  I distressed the edges of both pieces and inked the edges of the Crumb Cake piece with Soft Suede.  A piece of Copper Trim was tied around this piece.
  • The middle panel is a piece of Crumb Cake 6cm x 11cm – the edges are distressed and inked with Soft Suede
  • The mat is Early Espresso 5cm x 10cm – the edges are distressed
  • The stamped panel is Very Vanilla 4.7cm x 9.7cm – the edges are distressed and inked with Soft Suede.

Stamping and Creating the panel
  • I stamped the leaf spray in Soft Suede ink  twice and also the individual leaf 4 times in Soft Suede on the bottom of the panel.  These images were coloured with the Clear Wink of Stella pen and Soft Suede ink.  Soft Suede ink was then spatter on this piece using an Aqua Painter.
  • The flower from the Falling Flowers stamp set was stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and cut out using the matching die from the May Flowers Framelits.  This was inked with Soft Suede and the petals lightly formed to fold slightly.  The flower image was stamped again with Early Espresso on Very Vanilla. I hand cut the centre of the flower and then inked it with Soft Suede, again forming the petals slightly before gluing to the centre of the original flower.  A Gold Faceted Gem was used as the flower centre.
  • The foliage sprig was stamped with Versamark on Early Espresso and embossed with Copper Embossing Powder and then cut out with the matching framelit from the May Flowers Framelits.  The leaves were cut out using the leaf die and Copper Foil Sheet.
  • A piece of Copper Trim was teased apart to create the Copper gauze like piece behind the flower.  Some Copper Metallic Thread was also added behind the flower.
  • The sentiment is from the Tabs for Everything stamp set and was stamped with Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and punched out using the Classic Label Punch.  The edges were inked with Soft Suede.

You can see from the picture how to arrange the flower arrangement.

For the inside of the card I made another of the foliage sprigs which I adhered to the bottom of a Very Vanilla insert which was inked on the edges with Soft Suede and backed onto Early Espresso before being adhered into place.

Freshly Made Sketches #283

Hi everyone, I am playing along this week with Freshly Made Sketches.  This sketch is terrific for using up all those little strips of patterned paper that you just cannot make yourself throw away just in case (I have a bit of a stash of them).

I have used the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack with a colour scheme of Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White.

The big bold 'Happy Birthday' is from the Stylized Birthday stamp set and the little daisies were cut out using the Succulent Framelits. White Perfect Accents were used for the daisy centres.  A small heart from the Brights Enamel Shapes was added to finish the card.

Make n Take from OnStage

Hi everyone, sharing a card I changed slightly from the make n take that we received at OnStage.

I stamped the two background cards with the new Colourful Seasons Stamp Set at OnStage but did not put the make n take together.  When I got home I new I had the Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon in my Display Board Stamping Box, this toned perfectly with the Memories and More card.  So I decided to change things up a bit.  I coloured my favourite flower from the Birthday Blooms stamp set with the Water Colour Pencils using the Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive pencils.  Who knew that Fresh Fig would go perfectly with this combination.

You will be able to purchase these new products on 1 June 2017. You can purchase the Birthday Blooms stamp set and the Watercolour Pencils now.  No need to wait until 1 June 2017 for these great products.

CASE from the new catalogue

Hi everyone, on page 143 of the new Annual Catalogue there is a small vintage style gift bag which I just love.  I did a CASE of the design and changed the embellishments slightly and made this card.

I received the Touches of Nature Elements with my box of goodies for the display board stamping and the Copper Trim and the Gold Faceted Gems on the day of the OnStage Local.  I had the stamp set Falling Flowers and the coordinating May Flowers Framelits in my stash.  The base card is Soft Suede and I have stamped onto Very Vanilla, the edges have been inked with Soft Suede.  I left off the doily, ribbon, pearls and corrugated flowers in the sample and added the Copper Trim, Gold Faceted Gems and Touches of Nature Elements.  The sentiment of from the Tabs for Everything stamp set which we received in our OnStage Bag.  Stampin' Up! are so generous with giving us so much new product at OnStage.

Tip: If you tease the Copper Trim apart you get a piece of copper embellishment that looks like gauze.  I have put this behind the flower on my card.

You will be able to purchase these new products on 1 June 2017. You can purchase the Falling Flowers stamp set and the coordinating May Flowers Framelits dies now.  No need to wait until 1 June 2017 for these great products.

OnStage Local Stamping Display Boards Perth

Hi everyone, I was lucky enough to be picked to stamp for the Display Boards at the OnStage Local Event in Perth.  We were provided with a box of goodies by Stampin' Up! and had to create 15 projects.  I can now share with you my creations, hope you like them.

My first set of projects is a set of four cards and a matching file folder box to present them in.  This would make a great little gift.

The stamp set is "Orange Blossom" and can be found on page 175 of the Catalogue available on 1 June 2017.  The new 2017-2019 In Colour Lemon Lime Twist just pops when a little Basic Black is added.

I have used two of the new 2017-2019 In Colours, Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist.  For the lighter flower I have stamped off before stamping the image.

This card has the new Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon.

This card uses the new 2 1/4" circle punch with the Stitched Shaped Framelit.  Strips of Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Basic Black highlight the sentiment and the flower arrangement.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves.

This card has the new Silver Metallic Ridged Ribbon.

The next project is from the same stamp set, using the Berry Burst cardstock as the background.  The floral arrangement was backed onto a square made using the Stitched Shaped Framelits and the Layering Square Framelits.

The next card uses the Orange Blossom stamp set also, using the Fresh Fig cardstock base and Fresh Fig ink for the flowers.  The small flowers were stamped off before stamping the image.  The leaves were stamped using Always Artichoke and Old Olive.  The Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon along with some Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes were added to finish the card.

The next set of projects use the Grown with Love stamps set which I teamed with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.

The card has the new Blushing Bride Doubled Stitched Ribbon.  A new 2017-2019 In Colour, Powder Pink was used as mats on this card.

Fresh Fig is the cardstock used on this card (I love this colour). There is a matching die set Garden Grown Framelits that go with this set.  I did not get this Framelits set in my box of goodies so I did a little fussy cutting to show the possibilities of this set.

Powder Pink was the new 2017-2019 In Colour used as one of the cardstock mats.  The centre oval was cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits and the small oval was layered up using dimensionals. The flower pot and flowers were also layered up using dimensionals which have a great depth to the card.  A Blushing Bride Double Stitched Ribbon bow was added to the pot to finish.

How cute is this little crate.  I did not know that we were getting the Wood Crate Framelits in the new catalogue, so I made this one from scratch (I saw a picture in the 2016-2017 catalogue and worked out how to do it).  I had a good laugh when the Wood Crate Framelits were demonstrated at OnStage.  Crates and wood just seem to go together.

This little bag was made using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits, Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack, Gold Foil Sheet and Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate.  I was given the Lemon Builder Punch in my box of goodies but not the matching stamp set, so I was trying to show case this builder punch and its versatility by stamping the sentiment from the Orange Blossom stamp set.

The next two projects use the Boxwood Wreaths Embellishments.  I found it a real challenge to use these on my projects.  They go terrific with the new Be Merry Suite in the new catalogue.

For the Christmas Tag I stamped the Real Red background using the Brushstrokes Stamp Set and the bow is from the Baby Bear Stamp Set.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.  The Boxwood Wreath Embellishment has been layered onto a Gold Foil Sheet circle cut using the Stitched Shaped Framelits.  The tag has been made using the new Tranquil Teal 2017-2019 In Colour.

For my final project I made a door to hang a wreath on.

The card base is a piece of A5 cardstock folded in half.

Cut 2 pieces Whisper White cardstock 6 1/2cm  x 3 1/2cm
Cut 2 pieces Whisper White cardstock 4 1/2cm x 3 1/2cm
Cut 2 pieces Whisper White cardstock 6cm x 3cm
Cut 2 pieces Whisper White cardstock 4cm x 3cm

On the two 4 1/2cm x 3 1/2cm pieces and the two 4cm x 3cm pieces score a .5cm border all sides, making sure that you do not go to the very edge.  To make it easier make a .5cm border with a pencil on the wrong side where you will be scoring.  You will scoring on the wrong side so the pencil lines will not show.

All pieces need the edges beveled.  To do this, with the right side facing up, place one of edge of piece in the track on the Stampin' Trimmer and score the edge.  I used a stylus of this as it gave a better finish.   Do all edges on all pieces/

Layer the Whisper White cardstock 6cm x 3cm pieces onto the Whisper White cardstock 6 1/2cm  x 3 1/2cm pieces and the Whisper White cardstock 4cm x 3cm pieces onto the Whisper White cardstock 4 1/2cm x 3 1/2cm pieces.  Position these onto the card front (refer to picture for placement).

Add a small piece of Silver Foil Sheet for a letterbox and a Metal Rimmed Pearl for the door handle.

I had a great day at OnStage Local in Perth, catching up with friends and meeting some new faces.

Lady in Blue

Hi everyone, sharing another of my swaps that I made for OnStage that was held yesterday. I did CASE this design from Sarah Gough, different stamp sets but the design is entirely Sarah's.  When I first saw her card I immediately thought of the 'Beautiful You' stamp set.

I have used a colour scheme of Dapper Denim, Whisper White and a touch of So Saffron on the hat.  The image was stamped with Black StazOn  on Whisper White cardstock and lightly water coloured using an Aqua Painter.  As you are only adding a small amount of colour the water colouring on the Whisper White cardstock works okay.

The Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon was added to the top of the card and three Dapper Denim Enamel Shapes added to the bottom.  Note the score lines just above and just below the image.

OnStage Swaps

Hi everyone, sharing one more of my swaps I have made for the OnStage event being held in Perth today.  This is a CASE of a card that I liked on Pinterest here.   I have used Stampin' Up! products but the design and colours of the card are the same.

This card is great for using up paper off cuts.  The tops of the presents were made using the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits dies.  You could make this card in any colour scheme and it would look great.

Water Colouring

Hi everyone, sharing another card I made with my water coloured flowers from the 'Birthday Blooms' stamp set.  I coloured two flowers when I was making my card for yesterday's post for the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.

Colour scheme of Whisper White, Basic Gray and Basic Black. The Washi Tape is from the Project Life Moments Like These accessory pack.  The background dots from the 'Gorgeous Grunge' stamp set are stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  Some Silver Metallic Thread was added and then the flower was adhere over this using dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped using the 'Labeler Alphabet' stamp set and then adhered onto the flower using dimensionals. Silver sequins were added to finish the card.

MOJO#491

Hi everyone, I am playing along with this week's sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.

I have been practicing a little water colouring using the Water Colour Pencils. Still a little work required, but I liked the monochromatic look of the flower which was coloured using the Basic Gray pencil and an Aqua Painter.  I have teamed this with patterned paper from the 'A Little Foxy' Designer Series Paper Stack.  The sentiment is from the 'Rose Wonder' stamp set with the flower from the 'Birthday Blooms' stamp set.

The colour scheme is Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Basic Gray and Whisper White.

Hello

Hi everyone, I have been creating my swaps for the On Stage Local event to be held in Perth on the 8 April.

I wanted a quick and easy designs as I was wanting to make about 20 of this design.  I will be making more swaps but of a different design.

The stamp set I used is the Flourishing Phrases.  The flower and leaves were stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves. You will need two flowers as the centre of one is cut out and layered onto the centre of the other one to create some dimension to the flower.

The background was stamped with the dot image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using Basic Black Archival ink.  A strip of dotted copper Washing Tape from the Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape Pack was added along with a Basic Black decorative strip made using the Flourish Thinlits.  This decorative strip was cut down to fit the card.

The sentiment from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set was stamped using Basic Black Archival Ink.

All the leaves and flowers were adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

For the inside of the card a piece of Basic Black cardstock cut at 14.3cm x 10cm was adhered in place.  A piece of Whisper White cardstock 13.8cm x 9.5cm with a strip of the dotted Copper Washi tape added to the bottom was then adhered to the Basic Black mat.

 for this project from me.
