Monochromatic Floral

Hi everyone, do you sometimes buy something because you just have to have it and then not do anything with it (I am guilty of this so many times). When I first saw the Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper in the Annual Catalogue I just had to have it an it has been sitting in my stash ever since.

I had a little play with it the other day and this is the card that I made using Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Whisper White and Basic Gray.

Let's Celebrate!

Hi everyone, just a quick post today as I am playing along with the Mojo Monday challenge this week.

It has been a little while between posts as I have been looking after my sick Mum so I have not had a lot of free time.   This sketch challenge got me inspired to create a card using some of the new papers from the Petals and Paisleys Specialty Designer Series paper pack.

Thank you for visiting.

Chevrons

Hi everyone, I was searching for ideas for my card classes and came across this technique by Studio Calico on how to make a chevron border.  My piece of chevron is a little larger than a border but I love the technique and it is a terrific way to use up patterned paper. You can see the video on how to make the chevron here.

I use the Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper pack.  To start cut 2 base pieces of cardstock 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Then cut 1/4" strips of the paper 12" long, you will need 4 strips of each paper pattern to cover the two base pieces.

Put adhesive all over the base cardstock pieces, I used double sided tape but you could use whatever adhesive you wish.

Start by layering a strip of paper on the diagonal from one corner to the other in the centre of the piece.  Work outwards on one side and then come back and do the other side making sure that you keep in the colour pattern.

A tip before you cut the pieces into 1/2" strips.  You need to cut one piece into 1/2" strips with the diagonal going in the opposite direction to the other one. See the picture below.

Once you have the two pieces cut into 1/2" strips, adhere to a piece of cardstock the length of an A4 cardstock piece by 5".  Double sided tape was added to this piece before layering the strips.

Layer the strips with a zig zag pattern so you create the chevron as you go.  Once all the strips have been adhered you need to cut on the line where there is a full line of chevron (this will cut away all the waste area from top and bottom).  What you are left with is a strip of chevron which can be further cut down or left in one piece like I have to create my card focal point.

The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set and I have added some enamel dots to finish.

This one is for the boys made using the Moroccan Designer Series Paper Pack.
