Laughter is ....

The challenge this week at Dynamic Duos is Monochromatic Teal Blues.  The challenge is to create a card, scrapbook page, craft or digital project using the two colours in the challenge.  Neutrals such as black, white, vanilla, skin colours and kraft can also be used.

On my card I have used DSP from "Twitterpatted", "Sycamore Street" and the "Neutrals" paper stack along with Basic Black, Pool Party, Island Indigo and Whisper White cardstock.

I have doodled the edging around the base mat in Basic Black and distressed the edges of all the DSP and the middle sentiment piece with the Distressing Tool.  The free ribbon from the sale-a-bration is perfect for this card, I have used Basic Black Tafetta Ribbon along with the Island Indigo and Pool Party Satin Ribbon to create the first bow.  I then created another bow using Linen Thread and tied the button onto the bow with the Linen Thread.

The little flags on the bottom of the Basic Black DSP were made using Island Indigo cardstock and the largest banner in the Bitty Banners Framelits set.  These were also distressed and then cut in half and adhered to the bottom of the DSP.

The sentiment is from the "Feel Goods" stamp set in the new Seasonal Catalogue and I have finished my card off with three rhinestones.

Textured Effects

I have just started card classes and I have been playing around with ideas for class. This is a set of cards that I have created and called "Textured Effects".

The "Textured Effects" include dry embossing with the Crumb Cake inked onto the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, hessian, champagne glimmer paper, handmade central flower, small filler flowers made using dies and punches, ribbon flowers from the new "Flower Trim", leaves from the Secret Garden Framelits die and the linen thread bow.

This card is a centre set card, which I decided to go with to show the ladies in class different base card styles.  The sentiment on this card is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" and cut out using the matching framelits die.

The next two cards are a variation of the first card, just using a different card base style and the sentiments are from the "Vintage Versus" stamp set in the sale-a-bration catalogue.

Water Colour Crayons

I have been playing with my Stampin' Up Water Colour Crayons and these are the cards that I have made.

The first three cards are all the same colour sequence, using different background stamps, sentiments from the same set "Cross My Heart" in the new Seasonal Catalogue.  The embellishments on each card are also similar.  I have made this set for my next card class where we will be doing some basic backgrounds with the Water Colour Crayons.   I have quite a few ladies new to card making, so I am doing some very basic techniques to start with.

I have used Naturals Ivory as the base card and also for the piece that I did the Water Colour Crayons effect on.  I tried this to see how it went instead of the Water Colour Paper, and it worked okay so long as you do not put too much water on.  Also the blending is not as great as on Water Colour Paper, but with all the stamping etc on the piece you do not notice the imperfections in the blending.

I started by tearing two strips of the First Edition Specialty Paper and sticking this on the Naturals Ivory cardstock.  When these were dry I put my colours over the top.  The colours used on the first three cards are Regal Rose, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake which were randomly coloured over the piece with my paint brush and water.  I dried the pieces off with a heat gun to speed up the drying time (I am impatient).  I then used the Very Vintage Stampin' Wheel and Soft Suede ink to create the base background for the stamps, I then chose the stamps that I liked and stamped these in Basic Black on the piece.  The sentiments were hand cut and adhered using dimensionals.  The posy was made using linen thread, paper flowers from the Artisan Embellishment Kit, Crochet Trim and Tea Time Trinkets.  On the I Love You card, instead of the Crochet Trim I used two hearts made using the Full Heart Punch and the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit die, I then inked them in Soft Suede .  The edges of the centre pieces of all the cards were also inked with Soft Suede to give them a vintage feel.

This next card was made the same way but using the Water Colour Crayons Daffodil Delight and Elegant Eggplant.  I first stamped the image with Daffodil Delight and I then stamped over this with the Elegant Eggplant.  You can see the effect of the First Edition Specialy DSP on this card better than the previous cards. The stamp set used on this card is "Just Believe" and the sentiment was punched out using the Word Window Punch.

The final card was also made in the same way, however I used Soft Suede, Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake Water Colour Crayons and instead of randomly colouring I did the colour in stripes.  The background on this card was stamped using a piece of bubble wrap (I just had to try this after seeing it in a magazine).  I was trying to make a masculine card, but the Cajun Craze came out a bit on the pink side, but I went with it anyway.  The sentiment is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" stamp set and cut out using the Bitty Banners Framelits.  The circle piece was made using the 2 1/2" circle punch and the 3" circle originals die.  The stamps used on this are from "Clockworks" and "Need for Speed" stamps sets.

A Day As Perfect ....

Deconstructed Sketch No. 88I decided to combine the sketch challenge at The Deconstructed Sketch with the colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts.

The new More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper in the new Seasonal Catalogue was perfect for the colour challenge as Primrose Petals, Pool Party and Real Red are the colours in this DSP.

So along with this DSP, the sketch at The Deconstructed Sketches was just perfect for the card idea I had in mind.

I have added some basic black and very vanilla as neutrals to complete my card.
PrimrosePoolRed
Stamp set is "Vintage Verses" from the Sale-a-bration catalogue.  The sentiment has been cut out using the Labels Collection Framelits with Real Red Taffeta Ribbon layered behind the sentiment.

Faux stitching was added to the background DPS and the circle, and idea I cased from Jen Shults.  I used the 3 1/2 Circle Originals die and the Scallop Circle Bigz die for the centre piece.

I have made a square card, however have used the sketch for the middle panel.

Bashful Blue ...

It is a colour and sketch challenge this week at Still addINKtive. The colours are Bashful Blue, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake and this is the sketch:

This is my card.  DSP is from the Print Poetry Paper Pad and the Subtles Paper Stack.  I have layered the Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon on top of the new Natural Trim Ribbon, I like the finished look of the two ribbons together.  Sentiment is from the "Petite Pairs" stamp set and I have used the Ovals and Labels Framelits Collection dies. The embossing folder that I used is the Lacy Brocades with a finishing touch of the button brads from the Vintage Trinklets.

Just Add - A Shaped Card

The challenge this week at Just Add Ink is to make a shaped card.

I have used the Window Frames Collection Framelits for my shape.  The DSP is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack, and the doily is made using the Paper Doily Sizzlits die which has been spritz with the Silver Foil Smooch Spritz.  The embellishments are from the Artisan Embellishment Kit and the hearts were made using the "Hearts a Flutter" stamp set and the Hearts A Flutter Framelits.  Colour scheme of Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.

Dynamic Duos #38

The challenge this week at Dynamic Duos is to use the colours of Real Red and Pretty in Pink.

I have been struggling with this one for days.  I just had to get the basic black and very vanilla out to help me along with the card.  Just a well we can use neutrals such as black, white, vanilla, skin colours and kraft. It's "Bold and Sassy" week at Dynamic Duos so hopefully my card meets the challenge rules.  If it doesn't that is okay as I really got out of my comfort zone with this card which is good for my creativity.  It really got me thinking on how I could combine the two colours of the challenge without it being too in your face.

The stamp set is "Just Thinking" from the new Mini Catalogue.  I stamped this in Pretty in Pink on Very Vanilla, cut it out using the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies.  I then stamped the image again in Basic Black and cut the centre circle out and layered in on top of the Pretty in Pink image with dimensionals.  The DSP is from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack and the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack.  Ribbon is the Basic Black Scallop Dots Ribbon.  I got my sewing machine out and added some stitching in black as the DSP mat just needed something.  This is my finished card.

Less is More "Kraft & Kreme"

Kraft & Kreme is the challenge this week at Less is More.  The challenge is to create a card or project only using the colours Kraft and Cream.

I have used the oval lace from the Artisan Embellishments Kit and the flowers are from the Flower Trim in the new Mini Catalogue.  Sentiment is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" stamps set and was cut out using the matching Bitty Banners Framelits.

Mojo Monday #279

The challenge this week at Mojo Monday is based on the following sketch by Julee Tilman.

Thinking of You Friend

The challenge this week at Mojo Monday is based on the following sketch:

The DSP is the new "Tea for Two" paper pack and the stamp is from the "Just Thinking" stamp set available in the new mini catalogue which has just been released.

Colour scheme is Calypso Coral, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.  I has also used the flower trim also available in the new mini catalogue.

SAB "Celebrate"

At our next group meeting we have been set the challenge of making a card to swap using the stamp sets and DSP from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue.

I have been playing around and this is one of the ideas that I have come up with.

I have used the "Feeling Sentimental" stamp set and the "Sycamore Street" DSP.  Colour scheme of Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake, this is my favourite colour scheme of the moment.

I Love You

The challenge this week at The Deconstructed Sketch is based on the following sketch:

Deconstructed Sketch No. 87

I have used the "More Amore" Specialty Designer Series Paper and the "Cross My Heart" stamp set from the new mini catalogue.  The newsprint DSP is from the "First Edition" Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.  Island Indigo Bakers Twine and a Very Vanilla button from the Neutrals Designer Buttons.

The heart and stamped image I cased from the mini catalogue, I just loved how the heart was layered with the stamped image.

This is my finished card.
